| Cairo Film Festival for Children March 4/11 2010
Fondazione Mediaterraneo has accepted the invitation of the Egyptian Govement and of the Egyptian Embassy in Rome to participate as a member of the international jury of the 20th edition of the Cairo Film Festival for Children.
The first edition of the Festival was held in 1990. From 2000 till now, it is held under the auspices of the ministry of culture, according to a ministerial decree from the minister of culture Mr. Farouk Hosni in 2000. The President of the Festival is Dr. Fawzy Fahmy and the Director is Mrs. Soheir Abdel Kader. The Festival is now one of the most important Festivals for Children in the World and the only one in the Middle East. It attracts Countries from all over the world to participate each year with their best productions. The Festival got the idea of involving children from all over the world in the jury. The Opera house opened its doors to them to attend the opening and the closing ceremony and the Films screened in the Festival. Symposiums which discuss children's issues (Art, Culture and Health) are also held. The Festival organizes also workshops for the talent children under the supervision of specialists. Orphans and disabled children have the most important share. They are present in the Charity Market organized in the Opera House and the Festival goes to them in Villages, Libraries and hospitals. The Festival has really become a great International event for Children. |
